How this ranking works

How points are earned

Points are scored at three levels of events: the World Triathlon Championship Finals (1250 points for the winner), the World Triathlon Championship Series events (1000 points) and the Continental Triathlon Championships (400 points, adjusted by the Quality of Field Factor and Top 5 Bonus). Every place below the winner is worth 7.5% less than the one above. An athlete's final score is the points gained in the Championship Finals plus their best scores from Series events - between 2 and 5 of them, depending on how many Series events are held that season.
