About the course
The Triathlon Canada is part of the ITU Accredited Technical Officials’ Education Programmes http://www.triathlon.org/development/technical_officials/atoep_programme/.
This course in not open to international participation.
This course is sponsored by the Edmonton Triathlon OC in preparation for the 2020 Grand Final with the purpose of accrediting local NTOs.
This course is open to eligible PTO2 officials nominated through the Alberta Triathlon Association and other provincial sport organizations.
Recertifying Canadian NTOs are also eligible to attend.
An application will be sent to all PSOs and current national TOs and is available here.
The seminar portions of this course will be held on Saturday, April 14th (8:00am – 5:00pm) and Sunday, April 15th from 8:00am – 3:00pm. This course will be conducted in English. Candidates will have to officiate at an ITU event in the near future to gain the experiential requirement in reaching an NTO status in the ITU Education Program. Event opportunities will be discussed at the seminars.
Delegates must attend and participate in the entire course in order to be eligible for NTO status. Please plan your travel accordingly.
Only two (2) applicants per province may attend this course, except where current NTOs are re-certifying. The host PSO may submit more applicants. Any PSO may request additional delegates in writing to the Triathlon Canada Technical Director. PSOs sending Event Organizers interested in bidding on national championship events or hosting international events will receive preference for additional delegates.
Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to attend this course:
• Application must be received via the PSO office.
• Have been a provincial Level 2 accredited triathlon official for a minimum of 2 years and/OR be an Event Organizer interested in bidding for a National Championship event or hosting an international triathlon event (Games, World Cup etc.) OR be a current NTO attending to upgrade their skills/re-certify
• Level 2 Officials should have served as a technical delegate, head referee and gained experience in most all other Technical Official positions.
• Be a member in good standing of a Canadian triathlon PSO.
• Speaking both official languages of Canada is an asset, but not a requirement.
