World Triathlon Development Activites Review for October

In October we entered the last quarter of the year with various development projects being delivered face-to-face or virtually, all over the world. The online sessions of the World Triathlon - Korea Triathlon Coaches Education Project came to an end in all three courses (Level 1, Level 2 and CPD) and candidates are now heading to their final assessments. In the meantime, Coaches Level 1 (Spanish) and Level 2 (English) online courses started in the Americas. The newly introduced Technical Officials Community E-Seminar is getting more and more important in our education process and becomes an excellent initiative to start officiating and event organising journey for those who are aiming for Level 1 certification. In October all three Level 1 TO Courses in Asia used that e-learning opportunity to make sure all their applicants are ready to level up their knowledge. Americas Triathlon has been the first to organise World Triathlon Development Regional Cups in 2022 in order to support their developing athletes’ career towards high performance. Santo Domingo hosted the seventh event in October and Uruguay will stage the last one in November.

2022 Skopje World Triathlon Level 1 Coaches Course

2022 Skopje World Triathlon Level 1 Coaches Course

The course was delivered by Miloš Petelin (SLO) and Vicent Beltran (ESP),
“ For me, it was a pleasure to be part of the 2022 Skopje World Triathlon Level 1 Coaches Course. Together with Vicent Beltran, we share a bit of our experience in triathlon with all the course participants, who showed great interest during the five days course.”

Here’s what course participants said about the course:

“The most important lesson I took away as a coach is to encourage athletes to be involved in triathlon and to construct the training in a fun and joyful manner, which will ensure keeping the athletes in the sport for a long period of time,” Verica Mitreska (MKD).

“I have taken one more different approach into my coaching. It’s been overwhelming seeing myself grow and change my coaching style, for better. Try to keep training simple but effective and give as much time as possible for athletes to practice. Also focus on my growing and learning, especially getting more into Sport Science as that field really interests me. Try to get more feedback from athletes and take that into account when planning next sessions,” Anja Davidović (SRB).

The course was led by Omar Bin Abu Bakar (SGP) and supported by Asia Triathlon Development Coordinator, Firas Al-Hmood (JOR). With the presence of the NF president and vice president as participants at the seminar, a high level of engagement and motivation from the participants are reported by the course facilitators - Omar Bin Abu Bakar (SGP). “I was surprised by the level of competitiveness in this seminar. Participants were wanting to be the first to be heard in quiz sessions and also wanted to be the first in asking questions in Q&A sessions. This classroom culture automatically increased the level of participation and engagement thus motivating others to be engaged. I was positively overwhelmed at times with the technicality of the questions.”  The president of the Iran Triathlon Federation, Mahdi Goudarzi stated that “We wish to develop triathlon in Iran to the next level, and by having technical officials’ seminars like this, we hope our local TOs can come together and raise our standards.”

2022 Belgrade World Triathlon Technical Officials & Event Organizers Level 2 Seminar

“When I received the picture with the self-built venue days before the course I had the imagination I would attend a seminar with Kindergarten elements. But it was very intense, I met great people from different countries, learned a lot and I feel well-prepared for upcoming events and tasks now. And yes, I even enjoyed the element of building our own improvised venue with LEGO and other things we had and found quite a lot. I am very grateful to have been allowed to attend this great course, and I thank our facilitators, hosts, my colleagues and World Triathlon and Europe Triathlon for the opportunity.”
