The ASICS World Triathlon Team kicked off its first race of the Paris Olympic Cycle at 2022 World Triathlon Cup Pontevedra on 24 July. 2022 Pontevedra ASICS World Triathlon Team featured athletes from Chile, Estonia, Iceland, Morocco and Slovakia, led by Rolf Ebeling (GER) and Vicent Beltran (ESP). This was the first time that Moroccan Jawad Abdelmoula and Estonian Henry Rappo attended and competed in a World Triathlon event with the ASICS team.
Team Leader - Rolf Ebeling(GER)
“This is the 1st edition of the ASICS World Triathlon Team - road to Paris. The ASICS World Triathlon Team is not only looking to nurture talents for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games but also for 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. As some continents are still impacted by Covid that some athletes from Latin America struggle to have access to training facilities in their home country. This is the first event after the heavy pandemic period, there are some challenges but still a race to find the motivation back to the field. The Team did a good job in Pontevedra but we are looking for further improvements on the way to the next World Cup in Valencia”
Team Manager - Vicent Beltran (ESP)
“It was the first ASICS World Triathlon Team competition of the season, and we are pleased with how the team is progressing and the serious demeanour in which these athletes are approaching their preparation for competition. We are looking forward to welcoming more athletes to the next ASICS World Triathlon Team project in Valencia this September.”
Starting from the 2022 season, ROTOR becomes the partner of the World Triathlon Development. Rotor is the bike component specialists, working with core technologies to help improve cycling performance. As part of the agreement, ROTOR will also provide technical support for development athletes, all with the goal of helping them improve their cycling performance. The power meters provided by Rotor were distributed to the World Triathlon ASICS team at Pontevedra World Cup.
Zita Csovelyak, World Triathlon Head of National Federation Services and Development
“Athletes were grateful for receiving their ROTOR Power Meter in Pontevedra. This was only the first step in our partnership as further education and support will be attached to the programme in Valencia. The athletes can meet a representative of ROTOR providing deep insights about how to use and benefit a power meter during trainings and racing. We will create educational opportunities and materials for the World Triathlon Education & Knowledge Hub to be shared with developing athletes and coaches too. We believe education is the key success factor in development and beyond. “

“ I am really happy to see new faces joining the camp and I am even happier to see improvement among those who participated in previous camps. Also, the language barrier was no problem at all which showed great enthusiasm from everyone! The facilities provided by NF were state of the art!”
Participants:
Coach-
“I have been to so many camps! This is the first camp ever where I can apply sport science with athletes and it’s a great added value”
Athletes-
“This is my first camp as an athlete! I have great facilitators who are helping me understand better and challenge my coach in a constructive way. It also allowed me to think more about my safety as an athlete when it comes to certain training loads”.
“I am the youngest here but you and Kochetkov made this camp feel like home - I have learned a lot!”
