In the first edition of Val di Scalve Winter Triathlon of the individual races the new European Champions are the Norwegian Alf Roger Holme (Silver medal for his team-mate Arne Post) and the German Sigrid Lang who beats Carina Wasle from Austria and Camilla Hott Johansen from Norway. The bronze medal of Elite men goes to the Italian Daniel Antonioli, one of the favourite after two wins in World Cup this season.
In the Under 23 category gold medal for Tomas Jurkovic / SVK and the others steps of podium with Thomas Jandl / AUT and Luis Lobo / ESP, and in the female race success for Lydia Weydahl / NOR on Radka Vodickova / CZE, third Emilie Darras /FRA.
The austrian Robert Gehbauer beats Jo T. Nordskar / NOR at the sprint in the Junior race, and bronze for the Italian Simone Di Mattia. In the female race the twins sister Verona and Johana Sovcikova from Slovakia has had gold and Silver medals, bronze for Nina Morgenstern / GER.
Germanys wins winter team relay
Germany wins gold medal in Team Relay in both women and men categories. The Winter Triathlon European Championships will be on air this Wednesday 8th March around 20:00 on the Italian satellite channel: Rai Sport Satellite.
Schilpario (ITALY) 5th march 2006 – Germany was the favorite in the team relay race at the Val di Scalve Winter Traithlon which just assigned the titles of ITU WT European Championships 2006. Team Relay made of three athletes, each one of them has completed one winter triathlon (2,3 km run, 4 km mountain bike and 3,3 km cross country skiing) then the change to the team mate. Germany dominates the men category, with Roderer, Daniel Hele and Thomas Schrenk, but doubles the gold also in women category with Jutta Schubert, Gabi Pauli and Sigrid Lang.
Silver medal for surprising Czeck Republic with Jiri Zak, Pavel Jindra and Pavel Brydol and bronze to Norway with Jo T Nordskar, Alf Roger Holme and Arne Post, who wins in sprint over Italian Oswald Weissenhorn, Luca Bonazzi and Daniel Antonioli , just like the women race Italy gets a fourth place with Stefania Bonazzi, Michela Benzoni and Giuliana Lamastra. On the female podium after the German gold, silver medal to Norway, with Brita Mustad, Lydia Weydahl and Camilla Hott and bronze medal to Austria with Marlies Penker, Ulrike Striednig and Carina Wasle.
