French Para triathlon legend Bourseaux returns to Pragelato for Winter World Championships

Introducing Winter Triathlon

Winter triathlon involves a run, mountain bike and cross country ski (langlauf) – all on snow. Course distances are set on the day in order to achieve a winning time of around 80-90 minutes, taking into account the latest snow conditions. New challenges are presented at each race and provide unique opportunities for those seeking to explore their next multisport horizon.

In 2022 the World Championships were held in Andorra, where Italy’s Franco Pesavento and Daria Rogozina (RTF) were crowned Winter Triathlon World Champions and Rogozina and Pavel Andreev (RTF) took the 2X2 Mixed Relay gold. The Winter Duathlon World Championships were also held for the first time in Andorra, Pesavento also winning the men’s title and Anna Medvedeva (RTF) the women’s.

For novice Age Group athletes interested in the sport, acquiring the basic ability to balance and propel oneself on cross-country skis is vital. Opportunities can be found wherever there are langlauf pistes via the relevant continental langlauf or Nordic ski associations.
