Tim Don, the number three ranked athlete on the ITU World list will head the strong Elite mens field at the first African Cup event of 2006. Other prominent athletes are Bobby Behan (IRE) and Hendrik de Villiers of RSA.

In the women’s field, young Mari Rabie heads the ranking and performance list. Mari who is studying fulltime at University will also represent RSA at the Commonwealth Games in March. Her main competition will come from fellow South African Kate Roberts.

The event will start at 0900 at the Zululand Triathlon Clubhouse in Richards Bay.

The 2006 ITU Richards Bay World Cup event will take place on 10 June at the same venue.
