National Federation Open Hours - Good Governance Principles
World Triathlon hosted the third session of the National Federation Open Hours in 2023. The virtual meeting took place on 20 and 22 June and not only presented Good Governance principles at the level of the Olympic movement and International Federation (IF) but also offered the opportunity to all participating NFs to express their challenges under three subjects: Resource Distribution, NF Effectiveness and Strategic Support - all are key strategies under the Member Development pillar of the TRI Strategic Plan (2022-2025). World Triathlon wants to thank all the participants for their participation and contribution too. All the NF Open Hours are designed in a way that both World Triathlon as an IF and NFs could benefit from.
The next NF Open Hours will be on 18-19 October 2023. Prior to that, we will see you in person/online at XXXVI World Triathlon Congress Sanxenxo (Pontevedra), ESP

COACH EDUCATION
Sixth edition of the Korea Triathlon Federation - World Triathlon Coaching Education Programme return to face-to-face courses in Korea
The World Triathlon Development and the Korean Triathlon Federation (KTF) are pleased to announce that we are shortly now inviting applications for the sixth edition of the Korea Triathlon Federation - World Triathlon Coaching Education Programme to be delivered face-to-face between 01-05 November 2023 in Korea. The application will be open for ODA Recipient Countries as defined by the United Nations (UN) list (Asia and Oceania only).
The programme has been supported and fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of Korea, the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPF) and the Korea Triathlon Federation (KTF). The project aims to provide opportunities for developing nations to access coaching education in triathlon and get qualified by World Triathlon as triathlon coaches at two levels: World Triathlon Level 1 Coach and World Triathlon Level 2 Coach.
Between 2017 and 2022 (there was no course in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic), 292 coaches from 64 National Federations from all five continents were awarded World Triathlon Coach Certifications after successful assessments.

Triathlon Hong Kong invests in Coaches Education
Triathlon Association of Hong Kong China hosted two coaching courses in June.
Both courses were fully funded by the National Federation and were open to only coach candidates from Hong Kong.
Hong Kong World Triathlon Coaches Level 2 Course
After gaining their Level 1 certificate, spending two full calendar years actively coaching on Level 1 and completing all annual revalidations during this timeframe, seven eligible coaches continued their studies online and in person between 5 and 9 June 2023. As this small group was guided by two World Triathlon Coach Facilitators, Fenella Ng (HKG) and Vicent Beltran (ESP), an excellent learning opportunity was at hand for participants.
Hong Kong World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course
After concluding the contact days with the Level 2 group, another seventeen individuals (including six female coaches) arrived to participate in five days of classroom and practical sessions aiming to earn their Level 1 certificate. Local Fenella Ng (HKG) was joined by Anthony Joseph Lozada (PHI) to facilitate the group from 10 to 14 June.
Participants of both these courses are finalising their post-course assignments in the second half of the month.
Asuncion OS - World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course
Another Level 1 coaches’ course is underway in the Americas. This course is delivered in a blended format, where 20 enrolled coaches (including eight females) spend two weeks with self-study, then five weeks with online interactive sessions (an open hour and a themed seminar each week) before earning eligibility for taking part in three days of practical sessions and assessment that will take place in Paraguay between 1 and 3 August.
Participants are mainly from Paraguay with one coach enrolled from Uruguay. The course is facilitated by newly certified World Triathlon Coach Facilitators Cecilia de Jesus Farez Pucha (ECU) and Lucas German Mendez Mamone (ARG) with the help of seasoned Coach Facilitator Claudia Beristain (MEX).

2023 Jakarta World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar
Indonesia Triathlon Federation hosted the 2023 Jakarta World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar in Jakarta. Twenty-two participants from Indonesia and one participant from India attended the two-day seminar. Despite coming from different provinces and with varying backgrounds, they all participated enthusiastically in the practical sessions.
“I have attended various workshops in cricket, squash and tennis. The topics covered and how my facilitator conducted the seminar demonstrated the extensive research and effort invested by World Triathlon team to educate and share knowledge with the community. It was truly worth the time and money spent to be a part of this Level 1 Technical Official seminar.” said Harish Prasad, IND.
“This seminar is the best seminar I’ve ever joined in my life. Very comprehensive and detailed. I believe this could help me understand more about triathlon and increase my confidence when officiating in future events,” said Rufina Guteri, INA
“We appreciate the faith placed in Indonesia Triathlon Federation by World Triathlon and Asia Triathlon to host this seminar in Jakarta. It was constructive for us to learn more and to improve the quality of triathlon events and technical officials in Indonesia,” said Ahyar Daud, representative of the host federation.
Most participants were looking forward to returning to their respective provinces to further develop the sport of triathlon.
