The Series Management Team of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series visited recently Budapest, home of the Series Grand Final in 2010. The members of the Local Organising Committee prepared the three day visit with a busy schedule, including a progress report from the local organising committee. The team had the chance to visit the venues and the proposed field of play.

  • The course was approved, which includes the most iconic areas of Budapest, such as the Chain Bridge, the Houses of Parliament and Buda Castle.
  • The schedule of the events was also approved with some details remaining to be finalised. Paratriathlon, Age-Group Sprint, Elite Men and U23 races will be held on Saturday, 11 September. Age-group Olympic distance, Elite Women and Junior competitions will be raced on Sunday, 12 September. The schedule was determined to be able to provide the most possible live TV coverage for major broadcasters.
  • All other technical matters, athletes services, branding and sponsorship, and venue operations were also discussed.
  • There was also a meeting with Hungarian Television (MTV), the country’s main public broadcaster, regarding broadcast of the Grand Final events.

The 2010 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Grand Final Budapest is going to be held 8-12 September along, with ITU Elite Aquathlon World Championship on Wednesday (September 8) and ITU Congress on Friday (September 10).

Jorge Garcia, the co-Technical Delegate of the event, said, “I am very confident with the level of preparations. What I have seen during this short visit is that most of the work is ahead of schedule. We had the chance to be in Budapest last year for the the European Duathlon Championships and we will see big improvements compared to that. We have been working closely with the local team to ensure the quality of the event.”

We are all very enthusiastic about the event coming up in September.
