World Triathlon Youth Development Camp

Europe Triathlon, with the development grant of World Triathlon, hosted its traditional Youth Development Camp in conjunction with the 2023 Europe Triathlon Youth Championships Festival Banyoles in Spain.  The post-event development camp aims to provide coaches and athletes with the information, tools, and expertise they need to properly analyse their race performance and then use this knowledge to develop a better understanding of how to race with an improved level of understanding of all the factors required to consistently race better.

A total of 19 athletes and 5 coaches representing 6 National Federations (Cyprus, Latvia, Malta, Philippines, Slovakia and Slovenia) stayed in Banyoles after the race or joined only the camp exceptionally to use that unique opportunity for development and grow as an athlete or a coach.

Zeljko Bijuk (CRO), Europe Triathlon Development Coordinator: “From the Europe Triathlon point of view, the camp’s primary goal is to provide the opportunity to youths from emerging nations and coaches to work together under the supervision of a World Triathlon expert. Not only is it a chance for the new athletes to begin the important networking, but also for them to step up from racing and training at the national level to the faster and more intense international level they will encounter when they begin to race the junior circuit.”

Vicent Beltran (ESP): World Triathlon Coach Facilitator: “It is always a pleasure to welcome new athletes and coaches to the development camps. Seeing coaches from around the world investing their time and energy into providing their athletes with enriching experiences which further will develop their sporting careers is always incredibly inspiring.”
