April 2025 wrap up of Coach Education Courses

World Triathlon Development and Education continues to drive global coach development through its education program, supporting National Federations with high-quality, inclusive coaching courses. In April, three impactful Level 1 coaching courses were delivered across Montenegro, Algeria, and the Dominican Republic, reaching diverse regions and increasing the professional capacity of local triathlon communities.

Each of the courses is highlighted below.

2025 Podgorica World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course – Montenegro

Hosted in the heart of Podgorica, this Development Course brought together participants from seven nations: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Estonia, Malta, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. With a female participation rate of 45%, the course emphasised gender equity alongside technical coaching development.

The event was elevated by the presence of Drasko Milic, President of the Montenegro Triathlon Federation, and Dejan Radinovic, Secretary General, who both reinforced their commitment to grassroots and high-performance coach development.

“I’ve learned so much, become aware of many mistakes, and met coaches from various countries. A phenomenal experience. Excellent hotel service – including the gym, pool, food, and accommodation – everything was top-notch.  Facilitators Željko Bijuk and Miloš Petelin were exceptional in their roles – it’s an honour to be part of their group and continue professional development through movement and triathlon.” - Srdan Zivojinovic (SRB) - Coach

2025 Algiers Olympic Solidarity – World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course

In partnership with Olympic Solidarity, the Algiers course marked a milestone for coach education in Algeria. The course featured coaches from the Algerian Triathlon Federation, with a female representation of 35%.

The Algerian National Federation's president and secretary general attended the opening and closing sessions, highlighting the federation’s active role in professionalising triathlon coaching in the region.

“It was a great pleasure to welcome Amina Rouba (two-time Olympian in rowing) during this Course” - Laurent Massias (FRA) - TRI Facilitator.

“This course has greatly improved my understanding of triathlon coaching, from planning and safety to communication and athlete development. I’ve built a clearer vision of the coach I want to become, someone who guides, inspires, and adapts to each athlete’s needs. Thanks to the effectiveness and dedication of our facilitators, the learning process was both impactful and truly motivating.” - Barti Abderrahmane (ALG) - Coach

2025 Samana Olympic Solidarity – World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course

In the picturesque coastal province of Samana, the Dominican Republic hosted a dynamic Level 1 course with coaches representing the Dominican Triathlon Federation. With 30% female participation, the course furthered World Triathlon’s commitment to inclusion.

The presence of the DOM National Federation President and the Dominican Republic National Olympic Committee president underscored the course's national significance and the growing investment in triathlon’s development across the Caribbean.

“It is noteworthy that the National Triathlon Federation puts great interest and effort into training coaches and attempting to popularise triathlon, despite existing limitations. The Dominican National Federation understands that the correct path for development, among other pillars, is the training of coaches.” - Javier Mon (ESP) - Americas Triathlon Continental Development Coordinator.

“The Dominican Republic trainers are people with the joy and flavour of Caribbean music in their veins. For this course, they took care to apply this beautiful energy, joy, and flavour to every moment of their learning, achieving learning and teaching through love, joy, and respect.” - Ibeth Aguiar (COL) - TRI Facilitator.

“Overall, the triathlon course exceeded my expectations. Not only did I improve my swimming, cycling, and running skills, but I also learned about the importance of mental training and physical preparation for competing in triathlons. I recommend this course to anyone interested in improving their performance or even to those new to the sport.” - Gleni Sammuel (DOM) - Coach.
