COACH EDUCATION AND OLYMPIC SOLIDARITY
The IOC Olympic Solidarity funded technical course for coaches on 8-12 May, 2023 Port Loko OS - World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course, which was staged the day after the 2023 Duathlon National Championships) had 16 coach candidates from various regions of Sierra Leone. As some of attendees competed in the National Championships and others were spectators, it presented a fantastic opportunity to discuss aspects of event organisation as well. The theoretical and practical sessions throughout five long and busy days were really challenging for participants, but the enthusiastic group was holding on and did their best to learn and practice coaching. Facilitators, Istvan Jankov (HUN) and Mahdi Mnif (TUN), were paying extra attention to try and help all candidates with their progress on the World Triathlon Education & Knowledge HUB. On the closing day, all participants were awarded World Triathlon Activator Certificates and they are working on post-course tasks now in order to earn Level 1 recognition.

“The coaches were motivated and eager to learn about triathlon despite the issue with their login for the education hub. It was a great learning experience for everyone. We are eager to see them transforming their knowledge into practice.“ said Mahdi Mnif (TUN), facilitator.
