World Triathlon Development and Education is proud to highlight the successful delivery of its Coach Education courses in September 2025, offering both Level 1 coaching qualifications and advanced professional development opportunities.
Level 1 Coaching – Introduction to Triathlon Coaching
The World Triathlon Level 1 Coaches Education is designed as an entry-level qualification for aspiring triathlon coaches. It provides participants with the principles and practices needed to safely and ethically coach youth, junior, and adult recreational athletes. In September, two Level 1 Courses were held:
2025 Turkestan World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course
The Turkestan course welcomed 20 participants, including a 25% female cohort, from KAZ, KGZ, and UZB. Delivered entirely in Russian, this programme offered participants practical coaching tools and resources to immediately apply in their local triathlon communities.

2025 Pajulahti World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course
The Pajulahti course featured 15 participants from FIN, LAT, EST, GEO, and LTU. This international group engaged in hands-on sessions and theoretical learning, gaining the knowledge and confidence to lead safe and effective triathlon sessions in their respective countries.
“It was a pleasure to return to Pajulahti for the second time to deliver the Level 1 Coaches Course. The energy and enthusiasm from this new group of young coaches were truly inspiring. Their commitment to developing triathlon in their home countries is exactly what the sport needs—fresh perspectives, new ideas, and passion for progress. A highlight of the course was the presence of Kaidi Kivioja, a double Olympian in Triathlon from Estonia. Kaidi generously shared her experience and insights as an elite athlete, providing valuable lessons and inspiration to the participants. Her contributions added a unique depth to the course, bridging the gap between high performance and grassroots coaching.”
- Vicent Beltran (ESP) - TRI Facilitator
“I feel fortunate to have the chance to come to Pajulahti and work with the new WT Level 1 coaches. I gain valuable insights into how triathlon is run in their countries, and I return home with fresh ideas and meaningful connections.” - Denise Murphy (IRL) - TRI Facilitator

Pajulahti, Finland – Testing & Benchmarking CPD Clinic
Also in Pajulahti, the 2025 Testing & Benchmarking CPD Clinic provided a three-day intensive programme for coaches, sports scientists, and high-performance professionals. Participants learned practical and theoretical approaches to physiological and technical testing, benchmarking methods, and how to apply these insights in training and competition. The clinic included 6 participants (50% female) from Denmark, Spain, Finland, Iran, Ireland, and Malaysia, and was promoted by the Finnish Triathlon Federation.
World Triathlon expresses its sincere gratitude to Mrs Kaisa Tamminen, Executive Director of Triathlon Finland, for her tireless efforts in making these courses possible, and to the Sport Institute Foundation for their generous funding support.
“Leading the Testing and Benchmarking Clinic in Pajulahti, Finland, has been a true privilege. Sharing hands-on testing experiences with coaches and seeing their curiosity come alive was incredibly rewarding. For many, it was the first time exploring these protocols and equipment, making every moment even more meaningful. Bridging sport science with real training applications is not only enriching, but a powerful reminder of how knowledge transforms practice.” - Vicent Beltran (ESP) - TRI Facilitator
“The clinic was great. Learning by doing the tests by ourselves was a very efficient way to learn. We had a small and very international group of people with different experiences of coaching and testing. The atmosphere was friendly and safe for learning and Vicent guided us very well through different kinds of ways for testing within our sport. Got a lot of new ideas for my daily coaching work.” - Kirsi Päiväniemi (FIN) - Coach
