World Triathlon Coach Education in October 2025

Building Global Coaching Capacity: World Triathlon Coach Education in October 2025

October marked another strong month for World Triathlon Coach Education, with programs held across Salinas (PUR), Phnom Penh (CAM), and Zanzibar (TAN). Each course reflected World Triathlon’s commitment to developing inclusive, community-driven, and sustainable coaching pathways — ensuring triathlon continues to grow at every level around the world.

2025 Salinas OS – World Triathlon Coaches Clinic

Funded by the IOC Olympic Solidarity program, the Salinas Coaches Clinic was designed to support the Young Triathletes Development Process, offering a blend of online learning and hands-on practical application.  Participants engaged in a comprehensive education journey that began in April 2025, combining online preparatory meetings and assignments with a five-day face-to-face clinic in August. Following this, participants continued with structured self-study to consolidate their learning.

World Triathlon will award Community Level Coaching Certificates to those completing the online components on the Education & Knowledge HUB, while Federación Puertorriqueña Triatlón will issue attendance certificates for the face-to-face sessions.
The program featured 14 participants (29% female), representing the Puerto Rico National Federation (PUR).

“Thanks to Olympic Solidarity,  to World Triathlon,  to Puerto Rico Olympic Committee and National Federation for supporting and organising this key activity in the path of the Puerto Rico Triathlon Coaches development.“ - Javier Mon (ESP), Americas Triathlon Coach & Athlete Development Coordinator.

2025 Phnom Penh OS – World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course

Also supported by the IOC Olympic Solidarity, the Phnom Penh Level 1 course introduced a new wave of coaches to the fundamentals of triathlon coaching. With the presence of NOC and NF leadership, the program underscored the importance of collaboration between national and international sporting bodies in advancing coach education.

The World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 qualification is designed for coaches working with youth, junior, and adult recreational triathletes, ensuring coaches of the region are equipped with practical tools and knowledge to lead safe, ethical, and relevant sessions.

“The participants' dedication sets a new standard, fostering camaraderie that promises to elevate Southeast Asia on the global triathlon stage. The lessons learned and friendships will create a lasting legacy of triumph and collaboration, elevating triathlon in the region.” - Anthony Lozada (PHI), TRI Facilitator

'This course also brought out vibrant training energy, through different levels of coaches, participants, cross cultures, different background experiences, ages, sharing each strong and weak coaching points. We did make new friends, got to train under senior, experienced professional coaches, and shared many laughs, and await to catch up again with each other in the future, with the Triathlon team and events.' - Sok Vichiraviy (CAM), Course Participant

2025 Zanzibar – World Triathlon Activator Community Seminar

In Zanzibar, World Triathlon delivered an Activator Community Seminar, marking a vital step toward building grassroots capacity in a growing triathlon region. Hosted with special guests Tanzania NF President Sheha Mohammed Ali and Secretary General Said Mohamed Abdulla, the course provided an introduction to triathlon organisation, officiating, and management.

This program served as a starting point for local engagement, designed to raise awareness and empower participants — including athletes, coaches, officials, and sport enthusiasts — to become leaders in developing the sport within their communities.

A Global Commitment to Development and Education
Through partnerships with Olympic Solidarity, National Federations, and local organisers, these programs are nurturing the next generation of coaches — the foundation of a thriving global triathlon community.
