Throughout July, World Triathlon continued its commitment to developing coaches worldwide, delivering education opportunities across Europe, Asia and the Americas. From Level 1 Coach Certification Courses to a dedicated workshop on coaching female triathletes along with a Para Triathlon coaching course, the month reflected World Triathlon's ongoing investment in building knowledgeable, inclusive and sustainable coaching communities.
Valletta Hosts Malta's Level 1 Coach Certification
The month began in Valletta, Malta, where five coaches successfully completed the 2026 World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course. The course welcomed participants from the Malta Triathlon Federation, with 40% female participation, reinforcing the federation's commitment to increasing diversity within its coaching workforce. The programme was attended by the Secretary General of the Malta Triathlon Federation, Mr Warren Muscat, whose support highlighted the value of coach education to the Malta NF, strengthening the national coaching pathway and developing future generations of triathlon coaches.
'What an incredible two months with a talented group of coaches from Malta! We kicked things off with weeks of deep-dive online learning and productive Zoom sessions. But the real magic happened during our four days of face-to-face sessions! Malta provided the perfect backdrop and top-notch venues for all our practical drills, assignments and the final exam. Female Triathletes Workshop Delivered in Antofagasta
In Antofagasta, Chile, World Triathlon delivered its Coaching Female Triathletes Workshop as part of our partnership with Laureus Sport for Good, providing coaches with practical, evidence-informed knowledge to better support female athletes throughout their development. As female participation in triathlon continues to grow, coaches are increasingly required to understand the unique physiological, psychological and performance considerations that influence female performance. Rather than viewing these differences as limitations, the workshop encouraged coaches to use current evidence to create smarter, more individualised coaching practices. The workshop also supports World Triathlon's broader objectives of increasing female participation in endurance sport while empowering both female athletes and female coaches through greater knowledge, confidence and leadership within coaching environments.
Regional Collaboration at Macau Level 1 Course
The 2026 World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course in Macau, Macau - China, brought together 16 coaches representing five National Federations: MAC, SGP, PHI, INA and THA. The course achieved an outstanding 50% female participation, reflecting the continued emphasis on gender balance across World Triathlon coach education programmes. Participants completed a combination of theoretical and practical learning, developing the knowledge and coaching skills required to safely introduce and develop triathletes across all three disciplines. The course was attended by Mr Mac, Secretary General of MAC NF, whose presence demonstrated the federation's ongoing commitment to coach development in the region.

Costa Rica Develops National Coaching Capacity
In San José, Costa Rica, 17 local coaches completed the 2026 World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course funded by the IOC Olympic Solidarity. Delivered exclusively for coaches from the Costa Rican Triathlon Federation, the course achieved 35% female participation and received strong support from national sporting leaders. Special guests included Costa Rican Triathlon Federation President Carolina Mora, National Olympic Committee President Henry Muñoz, and National Olympic Committee Vice President Cristina González, highlighting the important role of coach education in the continued growth of triathlon in Costa Rica.

Para Triathlon Coach Education in Tata
World Triathlon continued to support the development of Para triathlon coaching expertise by delivering the 2026 Tata World Triathlon Para Coaches Course. The programme provided coaches with the knowledge and practical tools required to better support para triathletes and contribute to the continued growth of inclusive participation and performance pathways within the sport. The course was delivered by Neil MacLeod from Italy.
