World Cup racing lands in Haikou for a new stop on the circuit

The 2026 World Triathlon Cup heads to Haikou for the second stop of the season following last week’s race in Lanzarote.
Race day: Saturday, 21 March 2026
Course and distance: Sprint (750m swim | 20km bike | 5km run)
Venue: Coastal city setting in Haikou, China (new World Cup destination)

With a new Olympic qualification period now underway, valuable early season points add extra incentive for athletes to make their mark.

THE CONTENDERS - ELITE MEN'S PREVIEW
Spain’s David Cantero Del Campo leads the field after securing gold at the 2026 World Triathlon Cup Lanzarote last weekend. Switzerland’s Max Studer, a proven force on the WTCS and World Cup circuit and multiple World Cup medallist including gold in the 2025 World Triathlon Cup Miyazaki, adds further strength at the front.

Australia’s Callum McClusky, Japan’s Takumi Hojo and Great Britain’s Oliver Conway, the 2025 U23 World Champion, are threats for the podium.

Germany’s Tim Hellwig, a world class athlete on the circuit, secured silver in Lanzarote last weekend and is expected to feature at the front of the race.

USA’s Reese Vannerson who secured gold in the 2025 World Triathlon Cup Chengdu, Great Britain’s Hugo Milner, who won World Cup gold in Miyazaki in 2025 and Australia’s Brandon Copeland, multiple World Cup medallist, are also ones to watch in a 59-athlete field.
