What an incredible Sunday for the Spanish Armada that at the European Junior Cup had no rivals both in the men’s and in the women’s race! In the men competition with an immense running performance David Cantero Del Campo overturned the result and claims gold and also a bronze with Andrés Prieto Villar. Silver medal goes to Sebastian Wernersen (NOR) who with a solid bike managed to keep away all the chasers just quite to the end when he was caught by the Spaniard in the last 500 meters just before coming to the Blue Finish Arch. As well as the junior women who thanks to the phenomenal run take the entire podium with Paula Del Pozo Borrachero gold, silver Raquel Alzaga Criado and bronze Paula Sanchéz García!
The race started with a stunning swim of Marcin Stanglewicz (POL) who is the first one to touch the red carpet that led him to transition. After T1 the Norwegian Wernersen managed to take the lead of the race with an incredible bike, and the chaser pack made of was not gaining terrain to take him and the end of the bike Sebastian Wernersen (NOR) was still solidly leading with a huge gap. After T2 a running chasing group with Marton Kropro (HUN), Marcin Stanglewicz (POL), Lliam Colin (FRA), Marton Kropkò (HUN), Filip Tlamkla (CZE) and Veikka Saren (FIN). Wernersen with his good running skills made everyone think that the final result was already obvious but, the Spaniard made the impossible possible thanks to his incredible fast run 14:05, reached this gold and his dream come true, winning a European Cup. In Junior women the first out the water is the Spanish Paula Del Pozo Borrachero and just behind her the Russian Daryia Firsova. The two athletes started the bike together and we expected a break by those two, but after just a couple of km the other chasers reiunited with them and a group formed with Paula Sanchez and Raquel Alzaga Criado (ESP), Sonja De Koning (NED), Gianella Debra Coaguila Pita (PER). The group stayed together till T2 where the Spaniard Paula Del Pozo Borrachero with a fantastic run skills, takes the lead, in second place Raquel Alzaga Criado and in third place Paula Sanchéz García. The Spanish Team takes the entire podium with a stunning performance from the girls! What a day for Spain! Enhorabuona a todos!
