A common challenge for coaches working with young athletes is the direct adaptation of elite-level training programs, often leading to performance plateaus, injuries, mental strain, burnout, and early dropout from sport in young athletes as they struggle with the training volumes physically, mentally and practically in their stage of life.
This Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course offers a comprehensive approach to structuring age-appropriate training, emphasising the importance of aligning training volumes with athletes’ developmental stages.
Participants will explore key principles of long-term athlete development, considering physiological, psychological, and social factors that influence performance and well-being. Through case studies and practical applications, attendees will gain the skills to design training programs that enhance performance while reducing the risks of overtraining, burnout, and injury.
