General:
The International Triathlon Union (ITU) and the Oceania Triathlon Union (OTU) are looking for a part-time or project-based person with the ability to promote the development of the sport of triathlon and related multi-sports in the Oceania region. The ITU Sport Development Coordinator will work under the direction of ITU Sport Development and will provide the OTU Council with quarterly updates. The successful candidate will also have the skills and abilities to assist potential and new affiliate members in Oceania with the basic functional roles of a national federation. The person must have a sound knowledge of sport in general, the international and regional triathlon structures (including the interaction with Olympic and other sport structures) as well as basic national federation governance requirements and financial control measures.

Administration, Finance and Legal (AFL):
{exp:list_maker}Manage the delivery of the ITU Triathlon Tool Box especially in the areas of Communications, Administration, Legal and Finance. The Tool Box facilitates the first steps in the establishment of new National Federations with clear guidance on how to become recognized by ITU and OTU; Implement the 2010 OTU Strategic Plan and prepare an annual progress report for the OTU and ITU Congresses; Manage the OTU-ITU Sport Development budget with assistance from the ITU Manager of Finance and Legal; Manage the event contracts for all event disciplines in cooperation with the OTU Council, OTU Technical Liaison, and the ITU Event Administration Manager;{/exp:list_maker}
Events:
{exp:list_maker}Manage the event calendar planning for all continental event disciplines in cooperation with the OTU Council, OTU Technical Liaison and the ITU Technical Operations Manager; Manage the technical operations including but not limited to the Technical Delegate assignments for all continental event disciplines assigned by the ITU Events Department in cooperation with the OTU Technical Liaison; Manage the communication for all continental event disciplines including pre- and post releases, photos and results in cooperation ITU Event Administration Manager and ITU Sport Results Manager to ITU Media and to OTU media database; Manage any television coverage for all premium continental events in cooperation with the ITU Event Administration Manager;{/exp:list_maker}
Sport Development:
{exp:list_maker}Develop a solid and collaborative working relationships with the ITU Sport Development Department to deliver coach and athlete development programmes as identified and prioritized by the ITU Sport Development Department and the OTU Council; Work with ITU Sport Development Department on the education programmes for technical officials and event organisers; Work with ITU Sport Development Department on the appointment and certification of technical officials in OTU and ensure that a competent team of well qualified TOs are in place within all National Federations affiliated to OTU; Plan and implement an effective grassroots programme that addresses basic introduction of the sport at the community level e.g. a programme modeled on the Weetbix Kids programme in New Zealand and Australia and the Energade Kid’s Programme in South Africa; Develop a working knowledge of Olympic Solidarity programmes and assist the National Federations in processing the applications; Develop a formal reporting procedure that includes regular written updates and skype calls; Manage the communication for all educational programs being delivered within the OTU region including pre- and post releases and photos in cooperation with the ITU Sport Development Director to ITU Media and to OTU media database;{/exp:list_maker}
Marketing:
{exp:list_maker}Identify and pursue with the assistance of the OTU Council all potential sponsorship opportunities;{/exp:list_maker}
Media and Communication:
{exp:list_maker}Maintain the OTU section of the ITU website by ensuring all contact, event information and National Federations’ is current; Post relevant news stories from the region; Create a media contact database with input from all affiliated NFs; Manage the communication for all continental event disciplines including pre- and post releases, photos and results in cooperation ITU Event Administration Manager and ITU Sport Results Manager to ITU Media and to OTU media database; Manage any television coverage for all premium continental events in cooperation ITU Event Administration Manager; Manage the communication for all educational programs being delivered within the OTU region including pre- and post releases and photos in cooperation ITU Sport Development Director to ITU Media and to OTU media database; {/exp:list_maker}
Anti-Doping:
{exp:list_maker}Manage the in competition anti-doping results to be according to the ITU Anti Doping Rules for all continental event disciplines and communicated to the ITU Anti-Doping Director;{/exp:list_maker}
Criteria:
{exp:list_maker}Self-motivated, task orientated and the ability to develop a collaborative working relationship with the ITU Staff, the Oceania Triathlon Union Council, and the National Federations in Oceania; Able to travel extensively in Oceania; Current certification in at least two of the following: ITU level 2 Coaches and/or Technical Official and/or Event Organiser certification; Skills and abilities to in-service the ITU Toolbox; A working knowledge of Olympic Solidarity programmes and the ability to help National Olympic Committees process applications; Work effectively with other social and economic structures in Oceania (NGO’s, etc.); Good oral and written communication skill; strong networking abilities and a knowledge of board governance; Computer literate with advanced abilities in all Microsoft Office applications; Strong collaborative skills and ability to initiate regular updates via telephone and Skype conferencing as well as following a formal reporting procedure as identified by the OTU Council and the ITU Sport Development Department; In good standing with his/her National Federation; A proven record of sport development involvement.{/exp:list_maker}
