Position Overview: The International Triathlon Union (ITU) is seeking professional Legal and Financial Services Manager

Job Description

Provide Legal Expertise and Advice to:

• The ITU Executive Board and Council in related to a full review of the ITU Constitutions and Bylaws
• To the ITU Secretary General and ITU Directors in the review, creation and management of all key sport documentation and contracts such as:
  • Staff policy and procedures;
  • Staff and contractor contracts;
  • Sport Qualification documents;
  • Athlete agreements;
  • Sponsor and other partnership agreements;
  • Event agreements.
• The ITU President, Secretary General and ITU Table Officers on general federation liability issues;
• Other contracted lawyers that ITU may require from time to time.

Provide Accounting and Audit Preparation Advice and Expertise to:

• The ITU Administration and Finance Manager in the following areas:
  • Implement accounting best practice as recommended by the annual audit and adapted to the nature of ITU and to the country where the legal headquarters resides;
  • Preparation of accounts and draft financial statements in preparation for the annual audit.
• Assist the President, Secretary General, Treasurer and ITU Admin-Finance Manager in the implementation of accounting best practice.
• Assist and collaborate with the Secretary General, the Treasurer, ITU Admin-Financial Manager and the Departments of ITU to implement best practice in terms of budgeting and monitoring procedures.
• Manage ITU’s strategy on investments and make recommendations to the ITU President and Executive Board.
• Manage and control ITU’s taxable revenues.

Management Strategies and Solutions.

• Collaborate closely with the ITU Secretary General on relevant management issues:
  • Review and make necessary recommendations on ITU’s organizational structure duty of care, corporate responsibility and roles for each department;
  • Review the ITU Communication Policies and Procedures;
  • Preparation of the documentation required by the ITU President, Table Officers, Executive Board for the annual ITU Congress;
  • Assist in the management and adjustment of the strategic plan;
  • Implement the most cost effective and efficient management solutions appropriate to an International Sport Federation in the 21st century;

Skills Requirement

{exp:list_maker}Academic: Degrees in Law and Accounting or a relevant combined degree;
Languages: strong working ability in English with additional skills in either French or Spanish being a very strong asset.
Experience: must include sport law; constitutional law; contract law and proficient accounting practices.
Proven skills in collaborative team work and strong decision-making capabilities.
