Portugal’s Coach Education System Reaccredited
World Triathlon is proud to announce that the Federação de Triatlo de Portugal has been successfully reaccredited under the Accredited Coach Education Programme (ACEP). First accredited in 2019, Portugal has continued to demonstrate a robust and evolving coach education system—certifying new coaches and further developing its curriculum with clarity, structure, and best-practice delivery. In July 2025, World Triathlon was pleased to extend the accreditation for another five years, recognising the Federation’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
The ACEP initiative is designed to acknowledge and support National Federations that have mature and well-run coach education programmes. Beyond recognition, the programme fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment between NFs and World Triathlon in support of coach development globally. National Federations interested in accreditation are encouraged to contact World Triathlon on email - development@triathlon.org.
Coach Education Content Review Nearing Completion
This month, a working group of World Triathlon Coach Facilitators and sport science experts convened to finalise the new Running modules for Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Courses. This marks the final stage in the comprehensive revision of sport-specific content that began in 2014 and follows the successful release of updated swimming modules in 2023 and cycling modules in 2024.
Led by World Triathlon Coach Education Manager Istvan Jankov, the working group includes Emma Carney (AUS), Alexey Kalinin (KGZ), Koen Volkaerts (BEL), Neil MacPherson (RSA), Reinout Van Schuylenbergh (BEL), Scott Murray (GBR), and Tomas Perucca (ARG). The new running content will be available to all certified World Triathlon coaches and integrated into new course cohorts beginning in 2026.
These updates reflect World Triathlon’s continued investment in updated, evidence-based, and world leading coach education for the World Triathlon coaching community.
