Results from junior women's race

Portugal’s Anais Moniz won the first of six world championships gold medals on offer in Gamagori in Japan this weekend with her blistering win in the Junior women’s race.
Over the sprint distance course the 16 year old, competing in her first world championship claimed the junior world title with a time of 01:01:18. New Zealander Rebecca Spence won the silver medal in 01:01:39 with Australian Melanie Sexton claiming the final spot on the podium with 01:01:44. Despite the hot and humid conditions 50 triathletes managed to complete the course with only four failing to finish.
