3,200 Students to Race in Hamburg this Weekend

The sixth edition of the Hamburg pupils triathlon will take place in Hamburg City Park on the 24th and 25th of June. The event will take place over the course of two days for the first time ever with a total of 3,200 student athletes taking part. Athletes registered range from grade 2 to grade 13. The event is the largest school sport event in Germany and the biggest pupils’ triathlon in Germany.

Preparations are already well underway and the weather looks to be good for this weekend’s big event, according to Frederik Tychsen, the project manager for the event.

On Thursday night a total of 1,250 individual participants and 150 relays from 32 primary school will compete. On Friday a total of 1,550 individual participants and 250 relays from 47 schools will take on the course. All events will take place at Hamburg’s City Park Lake.

Distances

Grades 2 – 5: 50m swim – 2km bike – 500m run
Grades 6 – 9: 100m swim – 4km bike – 1,000m run
Grades 10 – 13: 200m swim – 8km bike – 2,000m run
