Etienne Diemunsch from France and Agnieszka Jerzyk from Poland are the champions of the 10th World University Triathlon Championship, which was held May 30 on Las Arenas Beach in Valencia, organised by Universitat de València.
In the men’s category, Etienne Diemunsch raced at the front throughout the race and finally won it in a great running segment. The French triathlete took 1 hour, 43 minutes and 38 seconds, leaving fellow countryman Brice Daubord (silver) and the Portugal’s Pedro Palma (bronze) behind.
In the women’s category, Agnieszka Jerzyk from Poland became the World University Triathlon Champion after completing the race in 1 hour, 55 minutes and 19 seconds. She reached the finish line unrivalled, thanks to her superiority in the running segment.
Gwen Jorgensen surprised everybody by finishing as the runner-up. The US athlete made a great showing in the last part of the running segment, with the best split of the day.
