World Triathlon Development is providing targeted financial support to athletes from developing and emerging National Federations through two 2026 Athlete Support Grant opportunities, supporting both Olympic and Paralympic pathways.
World Triathlon Athlete Scholarship
The World Triathlon Athlete Scholarship is designed to support athletes from National Federation Groups 2, 3B and 3A who have demonstrated the ability to compete at Continental and World Triathlon level and have the potential to qualify for the LA2028 Olympic Games.
The programme aims to provide targeted support during the Olympic Qualification Period, helping selected athletes access the competition and training opportunities required to progress towards Olympic qualification. Eligible athletes must be registered and in good standing with their National Federation, be ranked inside the top 220 of the World Triathlon Ranking, and demonstrate potential to qualify through an Olympic qualification pathway. Applications must be submitted and strongly endorsed by the athlete’s National Federation, which must also be in good standing with World Triathlon.

Travel and accommodation for Olympic qualification races
Training camps
Massage and physiotherapy
Applications must be submitted using this form by Monday, 31 August 2026 (CET). Successful applicants will be informed in early September, with World Triathlon Development working with the athletes and their National Federations to coordinate individual support plans.

Para Triathlete Support Grant
The 2026 World Triathlon Para Triathlete Support Grant provides targeted assistance to Para triathletes preparing for and competing at the 2026 World Triathlon Para Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, on 25 September 2026.
The target group will be Para triathletes from National Federations who did not have medallists at the Paralympic Games in Paris or World Champions (1st place) at the previous edition of the WCHs and whose National Federations belong to National Federation Groups 2, 3B, 3A or 4, who have demonstrated the ability to compete at Continental or World level and are identified by their National Federation as potential Paralympic prospects for LA2028 or Brisbane 2032. Athletes must be registered and in good standing with their National Federation, registered for the 2026 World Triathlon Championships Pontevedra, and have completed at least one World Triathlon-sanctioned Para event in 2026.

Travel and accommodation associated with the 2026 World Triathlon Para Championships
Recovery services, including massage and physiotherapy
Equipment
Applications must be submitted unisg this form and endorsed by the athlete’s National Federation.

Supporting athletes on the pathway
Through these two programmes, World Triathlon Development is continuing to invest in athletes from National Federations where targeted support can assist in their progression towards the highest levels of international competition. NF's are encouraged to identify athletes who meet the criteria and submit their nominations before the respective deadlines.
