World Triathlon Coach Education 2026 Pajulahti, Finland

By Jon Cornish21st Oct1 min read

17 coaches from eight countries came together in Pajulahti for an international week of learning, collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The Finnish Triathlon Federation successfully hosted the World Triathlon Level 1 Coach Education Course in Pajulahti last weekend, marking the third consecutive year that the international course has been held in Finland.

This year’s course brought together 17 coaches and two facilitators from eight different countries, creating a truly international environment for learning, collaboration and the exchange of coaching experiences.

Gender equality has also remained a key strength of the course throughout its three years in Pajulahti. This year, the group included nine male and eight female coaches, continuing the strong gender balance seen in previous editions.

The course was facilitated by Denise Murphy from Ireland and Scott Murray from England, who guided participants through an intensive programme combining theoretical knowledge, practical coaching skills and collaborative learning.

Beyond the formal course content, participants benefited from the opportunity to share ideas and experiences from different coaching environments. The international setting provided valuable insight into different coaching cultures and approaches, while also helping participants build new professional connections across borders.

The World Triathlon Level 1 Coach Education Course provides coaches with a strong foundation and practical tools to support their development as triathlon coaches. By bringing coaches together from different countries and backgrounds, the course also encourages the sharing of knowledge and best practices, helping to introduce fresh ideas and new perspectives to triathlon coaching.

The successful return of the course to Pajulahti for a third consecutive year highlights the Finnish Triathlon Federation’s continued commitment to coach development and to creating opportunities for international learning within the sport.
