La WTCS inicia su temporada 2026 en Samarkand, un nuevo capítulo para el triatlón mundial
La temporada 2026 de la World Triathlon Championship Series comienza en la ciudad de Samarkand, marcando un hito para el circuito al llegar por primera vez a Asia Central.
Conocida como la “perla de Asia Central”, Samarkand es una ciudad histórica reconocida por su riqueza cultural, su arquitectura y su tradición, que ya ha sido sede de Copas del Mundo en 2024 y 2025, y que ahora da el salto a la máxima categoría del triatlón internacional.
La competencia se disputará en formato olímpico (1.500 m de natación, 40 km de ciclismo y 10 km de carrera a pie), en un circuito compacto dentro del complejo Silk Road Samarkand, en lo que será la primera fecha oficial de la temporada tras la postergación de Abu Dhabi.
Este evento marca además el inicio de un nuevo ciclo competitivo de cara a la clasificación olímpica rumbo a Los Ángeles 2028, en un calendario que presenta nuevas sedes y una expansión global del circuito.
Con un alto nivel en las listas de salida y varios de los mejores triatletas del mundo presentes, Samarkand abre una temporada que promete ser una de las más competitivas de los últimos años.

WTCS kicks off its 2026 season in Samarkand, a new chapter for global triathlon
The 2026 World Triathlon Championship Series season begins in Samarkand, marking a historic milestone as the circuit arrives in Central Asia for the first time.
Known as the “Pearl of Central Asia,” Samarkand is a historic city recognized for its rich culture, architecture, and traditions. After hosting World Triathlon Cups in 2024 and 2025, it now steps up to the highest level of international triathlon competition.
The race will be held over the Olympic distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run), on a compact course within the Silk Road Samarkand venue, serving as the opening round of the season following the postponement of Abu Dhabi.
This event also marks the beginning of a new competitive cycle toward qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, within a calendar that continues to expand globally with new host cities.
With strong start lists and many of the world’s top athletes on the line, Samarkand sets the stage for what promises to be a highly competitive season.
