World Triathlon is excited to announce an additional race on the 2025 World Cup calendar: a brand-new sprint distance event in the breathtaking town of San Pedro de la Paz, Chile. Scheduled to take place on the weekend of November 8-9, this race will offer elite and emerging triathletes a thrilling new challenge just days after the season’s penultimate race in Viña del Mar (Chile) on November 2nd.
This additional competition marks a significant milestone for South American triathlon, as it will be the region’s fourth World Cup event in 2025—a milestone that underscores the sport’s growing prominence on the continent. The San Pedro de la Paz race will serve as an exciting finale in the region, providing athletes with a final opportunity to race at the end of a dynamic and action-packed season.
“With four World Cup events in South America, we are celebrating the growth of triathlon in this region,” said World Triathlon President, Antonio Arimany. “The San Pedro race offers an exciting opportunity for athletes in the southern hemisphere to compete and showcase their talents amid incredible scenery. It also completes a remarkable sequence of races across the Americas, starting in Mexico and Brazil and culminating in Chile.I want to thank the Chile Federation for their commitment and support to our sport and events, and also to America Triathlon for their investment on hosting World Triathlon events in their region, which will bring their athletes more opportunities to race on home soil”.
The San Pedro de la Paz event will feature a Sprint distance race: a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 5-kilometer run, set amidst Chile’s stunning desert and mountain landscapes. Its proximity to the Viña del Mar stop and also the Brazilia World Cup two weeks before creates an exceptional end-of-season block for South American athletes and fans alike.
