This week ITU will be providing live video coverage of all four days of the 2008 Vancouver BG Triathlon World Championships. With approximately 3,000 athletes from over 60 countries and four days of racing in downtown Vancouver, there will be plenty of action to watch.
The event kicks off on Thursday morning at 7am local time with the junior women first to brave the cool waters of the North Pacific and goes through until after the medal presentations at 6:45pm Sunday evening. In all this will come to over 25 hours of live video streaming.
Unfortunately there is no live television broadcast of this event so we will not have full course video coverage of any of the races. We will have coverage from five static cameras around the transition area and video will return to ITU’s Barrie Shepley and Libby Burrell in studio who will provide commentary and insight to what’s happening off camera.
On Thursday for the juniors, live coverage will begin 15 minutes before the women’s start. Friday and Saturday’s races begin at 6:30am local time with live timing being provided as well as a fixed finish line camera for family and friends to watch their athletes cross the line. Follow your athlete through the timing and watch them finish live.
Age-group sprint distance race is on Friday with the age-group Olympic distance on Saturday.

On Sunday four world champions will be crowned. Coverage kicks off at 6:45am - 15 minutes before the start of the under23 women and runs right through until 6:45pm after the end of the medal ceremonies. As with the junior race coverage there will not be full course video coverage but Barrie Shepley and Libby Burrell will be in studio to keep you fully informed. Live text and timing will be available as per standard World Cup coverage.

*Live video for Juniors on Thursday and U23 and Elites on Sunday comprises of 4 transition area cameras and studio camera. There is not full course coverage, only coverage around the grandstand.
Live video for Age Group races on Friday and Saturday is one static finish line camera.
