African athletes excelled in the weekends 2010 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Grand Final, held in Budapest. 

In the under 23 race, six African athletes placed in the top forty.  In the women’s under 23 race, twenty-year-old Lauren Dance from South Africa, Fabienne Aline St.Louis from Mauritius and Carlyn Fischer, also from South Africa. All placed in the top 40.

In the men’s under 23 race, South African athletes Richard Murray placed in the top 10, while Wikus Weber and Theo Blignaut took places in the top 35.
