With one month to go until the 2026 Europe Triathlon Championships Tarragona, anticipation is building for one of the major events on the European triathlon calendar. On 13 and 14 June, Europe’s best triathletes will gather in Tarragona, Spain, to compete for the continent’s elite sprint and standard distance titles in a spectacular Mediterranean setting.
Hosted in partnership with the city of Tarragona and the local organising committee, the Championships will transform the Port of Tarragona into the centre of European triathlon, welcoming elite athletes alongside a strong field of age-group competitors from across the continent.
Competition begins on Saturday 13 June with the Sprint Distance European Championships, followed by the Standard Distance European Championships on Sunday 14 June. Around 1,400 athletes are expected to take part across the weekend, making Tarragona one of the key meeting points for the European triathlon community in 2026.
The Port of Tarragona will serve as the heart of the event, hosting the start, finish, transition area and event expo. Athletes will swim in the waters of the Marina before taking on a bike course that heads out around surrounding city roads, including Passeig Marítim, Ernest Lluch and Via Augusta. The run course will remain centred around the port area, with spectators able to follow the action along the Moll de Costa and Serrallo waterfront.
Registration for age-group athletes remains open until 18 May, while the event will also feature an open race category, further strengthening the festival atmosphere around the Championships weekend.
The 2026 Europe Triathlon Championships Tarragona are organised by Europe Triathlon in collaboration with the Spanish Triathlon Federation, Tarragona City Council, the Government of Catalonia’s Department of Sport, Tarragona Provincial Council, Port de Tarragona and the Catalan Triathlon Federation, with Suzuki Iberica as main sponsor.
