2025 Maputo – World Triathlon Technical Officials & Event Organisers Community Seminar

In Mozambique, the city of Maputo welcomed 36 participants to a World Triathlon Technical Officials & Event Organisers Community Seminar, delivered in Portuguese and specifically tailored for local contexts. With an impressive 41% female participation rate, the seminar brought together community leaders, clubs, and schools.

World Triathlon’s Community Seminars are designed to build the foundations for grassroots events, with a focus on the basic rules of triathlon and event management principles. By empowering local organisers, these initiatives help to expand access to triathlon through fun, safe, and inclusive “Tri for Fun” events.

'I felt very welcome by the National Federation and the participants. I found a group that was very eager to learn and very willing to work, but they need someone to guide them and show them the way.  The basic principles that guide us at World Triathlon were understood, but they need more opportunities to consolidate and evolve in terms of refereeing.  As a next step, a TRI TO Level 1 Seminar would enable them to host international events in the future.  - Anabela Santos, TRI Facilitator

'From now on, you (World Triathlon Facilitador and the Technical Delegate) are the godparents of Triathlon in Mozambique.” - MOZ NF Representative

NOTE - Since 2025 IOC Olympic Solidarity offers grants for Technical Official courses as well.  This is new in the LA2028 Olympic Cycle.
