Technical Officials Education throughout May 2026

World Triathlon Development continued to strengthen officiating standards worldwide during May, delivering Technical Officials Education opportunities across the Americas and Asia. Three World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminars were successfully conducted in Guatemala, Singapore, and China, providing participants with the knowledge, practical experience, and confidence required to support the safe and fair delivery of triathlon events. These seminars play a vital role in developing the next generation of Technical Officials, ensuring consistency in the application of World Triathlon Competition Rules while supporting National Federations in building strong and sustainable officiating pathways.

Guatemala City Hosts Regional Technical Officials Development

The 2026 Guatemala City World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar brought together 20 participants from Guatemala and Costa Rica, with women representing 40% of attendees. The seminar was also attended by the President of the Guatemala Triathlon Federation, highlighting the importance of technical official development within the region.  Facilitated by Felix Molina (MEX), the seminar combined classroom learning with practical activities, allowing participants to explore officiating responsibilities and race management scenarios.  As a result, participants valued the opportunity to learn from experienced facilitators and discuss real-world race situations.

Singapore Strengthens National Officiating Capacity

In Singapore, the 2026 TAS - World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar (ATOEP) welcomed seven participants, with women making up 70% of the group. The seminar focused on building a strong understanding of World Triathlon rules, officiating principles, and race procedures while encouraging discussion and practical learning. Facilitator Peter Chua highlighted the engagement and enthusiasm shown by participants throughout the course.

The seminar was also recognised as an important step in strengthening the development pathway for Technical Officials within Singapore.

Lianyungang Seminar Delivers Engaging Learning Experience

The 2026 Lianyungang World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar attracted 25 participants from China, with women accounting for 36% of attendees.  The seminar focused on developing officiating knowledge through interactive learning, encouraging participants to engage in discussions and apply competition rules to practical race situations.

Building the Future of Technical Officiating

Across the three seminars, a total of 52 participants took part in TO Education during May. The growing female participation and support from National Federations demonstrate the continued commitment to developing qualified Technical Officials around the world.  Through this Education Programme, World Triathlon Development continues to equip officials with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to ensure high-quality event delivery and uphold the integrity of triathlon competition at all levels.
