World Triathlon Technical Officials Education, April 2026

As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening the global development pathway, World Triathlon continues to invest in the education and progression of technical officials. Through the Technical Officials Education and Certification Programme, the organisation supports National Federations in building capacity, ensuring consistency in officiating standards, and enhancing the quality of event delivery worldwide.

Level 1 Technical Officials Seminars

Two World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminars (ATOEP) were conducted during April in collaboration with National Federations.

The 2026 Tokyo Japan Triathlon - World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar (ATOEP) seminar was held in Tokyo, Japan, on 18–19 April 2026, with 10 participants from Triathlon Japan. Female participation represented 33% of attendees.

Technical Officials Revalidation E-Seminars

World Triathlon also commenced a series of Technical Officials Revalidation E-Seminars on 27 April 2026, running through to 27 August 2026.

The 2026 World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 2 Revalidation E-Seminar is designed to further develop the competencies of technical officials operating at higher levels, particularly those acting as Technical Delegates. The course addresses key areas of event management across Continental Cups, Continental Championships, Multisport events, and Paratriathlon competitions, with application to World Triathlon Series events, World Cups, and Major Events.

The programme consists of 29 modules, each with an approximate duration of one to two hours. Participants are assigned to facilitated groups to support discussion, engagement, and progression through the course. Modules include both mandatory and optional components.

In accordance with the updated certification framework, successful completion of the online revalidation seminar is required for technical officials seeking progression to higher certification levels.

In parallel, the  2026 World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Revalidation E-Seminar (Spanish)   and the 2026 World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Revalidation E-Seminar (English) are being delivered in both English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for technical officials across different regions.

Ongoing Development of the Technical Officials Pathway

Through a combination of in-person and online education, the Technical Officials Education Programme supports the consistent and effective delivery of events across all levels of competition.
