Technical Officials Education in August 2025

World Triathlon continued to develop the Technical Official network throughout August, with a series of Technical Officials education seminars held across various continents. These courses, delivered in partnership with host National Federations, provided valuable theoretical and practical training designed to strengthen local expertise and prepare officials for leadership roles at every level of the sport.

Guayaquil, Ecuador – Level 2 Seminar

The 2025 Guayaquil World Triathlon Technical Officials & Event Organisers Level 2 Seminar brought together officials from across the Americas to enhance their expertise and leadership in triathlon events. Supported by the Ecuadorian Federation, foreign officials were provided with accommodations, and all participants confirmed attendance ahead of the June 30th deadline.

The seminar prepared eligible officials to serve as Technical Delegates at Continental Cups, Multisport Continental Championships, and Multisport Series Events. Ten officials took part, with an impressive 50% female ratio, representing federations from ECU, BRA, PER, CUB, DOM, and COL.

A highlight was the presence of NF President Kerly Mora, who attended as a guest.

“I found the seminar very interesting and dynamic. I hope to apply all this knowledge to the events we hold in our country.”
Luis Boza (ECU), Technical Official

Sydney, Australia – Level 1 Seminar (ATOEP)

Riga, Latvia – Level 1 Seminar

The 2025 Riga World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar, hosted by the Latvian National Federation, provided valuable training to strengthen the country’s officiating team. The one-and-a-half-day seminar equipped participants with both theoretical and practical skills, enabling them to officiate at national events as Technical Delegates and at continental competitions as Technical Officials.

Riga

Zagreb, Croatia - Level 1 Seminar

In addition to the seminars in Guayaquil, Sydney, and Riga, the 2025 Zagreb World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar further extends World Triathlon’s reach in providing accessible and standardised Technical Officials education opportunities worldwide.

With a female attendance ratio of 50%, eighteen participants from BIH, CRO, SRB & SLO participated.

'The course was delightful with the participants. They all came with a TO/LOC background, so they took a lot of questions. They were interested in every part, and they also wanted to understand not only the rules but the background of the rules and the decision-making process. During the race, I was glad to see that the participants took all the theoretical parts into practice; all of them performed very well. I look forward to seeing them on the blue carpet in the near future!'Alpar Nagy (HUN), TRI Facilitator.

Through these initiatives, World Triathlon remains dedicated to developing a skilled, inclusive, and globally connected network of Technical Officials. Through the education of our Technical Officials, we can ensure triathlon events at every level are delivered with fairness, safety, and excellence.
