Sikk Triumphs as Jansone Delivers Home Victory

Estonia dominated the Elite Men's race at the 2026 Baltic Championships in Alūksne, Latvia, with Johannes Sikk leading an Estonian sweep of the podium.

Sikk delivered a commanding performance, posting the fastest bike split and the second-fastest T2 before producing the quickest run of the day to pull clear of his rivals. He crossed the finish line 25 seconds ahead of fellow Estonian Armin Angerjärv to secure the Baltic Championship title.

Latvia's Artjoms Gajevskis had led the race early on after exiting T1 first following a strong swim and run combination. However, Sikk reeled him in during the bike leg before taking control of the race and building an unassailable advantage on the run.

Robin Randoja completed the all-Estonian podium, finishing seven seconds behind Angerjärv in third place. Kalmer Kiiver added further depth to Estonia's impressive showing, crossing the line in fourth.

In the Elite Women's race, home favourite Beate Jansone delighted the Latvian crowd with a dominant victory on home soil. Jansone produced an outstanding all-round performance to win by 49 seconds over silver medallist Fiona Faivre of France.

The Latvian was the standout athlete of the day, recording the fastest swim, fastest bike split and quickest T2, while also posting the second-fastest run. Her advantage was established early, as she exited the water more than 25 seconds ahead of the field before extending her lead on the bike.

Jansone's 33:19 bike split for the 20km course was 19 seconds faster than her nearest rival on two wheels, Lithuania's Ula Sijaviciute, allowing her to enter the run with a commanding lead that would never be threatened.

Estonia added another medal to its tally through Etriin Etverk, who secured bronze after finishing 16 seconds behind Faivre. The result capped an excellent weekend for Estonia, which collected medals across both elite races and showcased its strength throughout the championships.
