During the weekend, Saint Petersburg — the City of White Nights, famed for its unique architecture and rich history — hosted its main summer sporting event. The Medny Vsadnik race followed its traditional route through the Northern Capital.

On 17 July, Elite Athletes and Age-Group competitors took part in the Medny Vsadnik Middle Distance Triathlon, featuring a 1.9 km swim, a 90.1 km bike leg, and a 21.1 km run. The same day also saw a stage of the Russian Cup for professional athletes over the same distance.

In total, 1,188 athletes competed in the event, including 1,019 men and 169 women.
