Run Tips from the Elites – Dillon

We asked some of ITUs top athletes for some training tips.  Michelle Dillon owns one of the best bike-run combos in the world and offered some things to remember on the run:

Everyone wants to be a faster runner, however, it is not only the mileage that can help improve you. These days you can achieve a lot by doing core work to help minimize injuries and stabilize your gait while running. This will give you more bounce to your stride and you will run more efficiently during training which will enable you to run longer, harder and faster.  Trying things like pilates or yoga can give your body an overall balanced effect.

Dillons career highlights:
2004 Olympian 6th place
2000 Olympian
2002 world championships bronze medalist
2 world cup titles
10 world cup podiums
2005 Duathlon world champion

Unfortunately Dillon didnt qualify for a third Olympics after a chronic back injury forced her to miss Great Britains Olympic qualifiers this year.  “I could be disappointed with not being able to race the Olympic Qualifier in Madrid, but instead I have chosen to turn this into a positive and focus my energy into the athletes that I coach, said Dillon.
