Position Description: Oceania Triathlon Development Coordinator

Oceania Triathlon (OT) are on the lookout for a Continental Development Coordinator to join the Council. 

Reporting to the President of Oceania Triathlon and the OT Council, this role will be responsible for administering and managing the development programs/projects aligned within the Continental Strategic Plan and Development agreement approved by the OT Council in alignment with the World Triathlon ('TRI') Strategic Plan and as approved by the Executive Board of World Triathlon. 

In this role you will work with:

  • the Oceania Triathlon Continental Council and standing committees / commissions to ensure a strong organisational structure is in place that respects and understands the principles of good governance;
  • all affiliated National Federations (NFs) and  Associated Members within the Oceania region to ensure each national federation is operating at capacity and under a good governance model;
  • the Development and Sport Staff of World Triathlon (“TRI”) to ensure the continental programs are in line with the TRI programs, rules and procedures and are of the highest standard.

 

Areas of work will include:


Administration, Finance and Legal (AFL):

  • Help to keep existing NFs active and assist them in the development of events in their territories;
  • Participate in implementing the relevant sections of the 4 year Continental Strategic Plan and prepare an annual progress report for the Continental and TRI Congresses;
  • Monitor relevant budget areas from the Continental-TRI Development budget for OT with assistance from the Sr. Manager TRI Development and TRI Sr. Manager of Finance and Legal.

Development:

  • Assist to deliver coach and athlete development programmes as identified and prioritised by the OT Council in conjunction with NFs and TRI Development;
  • Deliver Technical Officials’ education and development programmes as identified and prioritised by the OT Council in conjunction with TRI Development;
  • Manage the logistics of all courses, camps and educational opportunities for athletes, coaches, event organisers, technical officials and paratriathlon classifiers that form part of the OT development program;
  • Work with TRI Sport Department on the appointment and certification of Technical Officials and ensure that a competent team of well qualified TOs are in place within all National Federations affiliated to the region;
  • Work with TRI Development on the education programmes for coaches and the development and advancement programs for any athletes that have been talent identified within any of the OT development programmes;
  • Plan and implement an effective grassroots programme that addresses basic introduction of the sport at the community level e.g. a school based programme or a programme modeled on the Weetbix Kids programme in New Zealand and Australia,
  • Develop a working knowledge of Olympic Solidarity programmes and assist the National Federations in processing the applications;
  • Adhere to the formal reporting procedures outlined by TRI Development and Sport Department to be submitted to the Continental Council and the TRI Development that includes the following: planning forms, expert reports, continental coordinator reports, budget and financial reports as well as regular written updates and Skype calls with TRI Development;
  • Manage the communication for all educational programmes being delivered within the region including pre- and post-releases and photos in cooperation with TRI Development to TRI Media and to continental media database;

Anti-Doping:

  • Assist with anti-doping matters within the region if requested to do so by the TRI Anti-Doping Staff to include the following:
  • Ensure all events have in-competition testing
  • Ensure all camps have an anti- doping component
  • Attend anti- doping conferences or meetings in the region
  • Help to distribute anti-doping materials

Remuneration
A monthly fee of USD $2000.00 is to be paid by the end of each respective month.
Expenses necessarily incurred in undertaking this role will be reimbursed upon submission of an agreed expense claim form together with all relevant supporting documentation. Expenses will include air travel, accommodation and food, ground transport and visa costs. Where appropriate the TRI scale of fees may be applied with respect to per diem travel reimbursement and facilitator fees on specific projects/courses. Expenses should be agreed in advance with the OT President or a person appointed by the President for that purpose.

Term of appointment
The role will commence on the 2nd May and will continue on a monthly basis until 31 December 2022. 

It is the intention of the OT Council to extend this agreement on an annual basis from 1 January to 31 December each year subject to varying any terms conditions, including financial arrangements, at their absolute discretion and based on the final OT/TRI Development Budget agreement approved and signed each calendar year.
