The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), World Triathlon and the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) have announced a multi-year partnership to bring the Spain T100 Triathlon race to Pamplona, Navarra, Northern Spain on 23-24 May, 2026.
It will feature women’s and men’s professional 100km races, that will take place on the PTO’s global broadcast network, as well as a 100km amateur triathlon.
Pamplona is most famous for the San Fermín festival and its Running of the Bulls event in July, which attract global interest. Beyond the festival, the city is known for its rich history, culture, food, beautiful medieval streets and lively squares, like Plaza del Castillo.
The 2026 Spain T100 will include the Spanish Middle Distance National Championships, and is the sixth T100 event announced for 2026, from the nine race World Championship confirmed in October. “We have enjoyed delivering races in Spain since the early days of the PTO and are excited today to announce a multiyear hosting agreement to make Pampalona the new Home of T100 in Spain. Pamplona has quickly built an impressive reputation for hosting triathlon events thanks to the success of the Half Triathlon Pamplona-Iruña, and proved its international pedigree by hosting the European Middle Distance Championships earlier this year. This convinced us that it would also make a great addition to the T100 Tour. Its beautiful surrounds, culture, food and passionate triathlon community will help create the festival atmosphere we’re building at our events.”
“I’m very grateful for the ongoing partnership with World Triathlon and the Spanish Triathlon to have made this possible and the local stakeholders for embracing the opportunity with open arms.”
Triathlon In Pamplona
The area has hosted the Half Triathlon Pamplona-Iruña since 2015 and quickly grown into a flagship event in European triathlon. Organised in partnership with the local triathlon clubs Trikideak and Navarra Triathlon Federation, it is also backed by the Pamplona City Council and the Navarra Government and features a challenging swim in the Alloz Reservoir, followed by a bike leg through the rolling Navarrese countryside, and concluding with a 18km run through Pamplona’s historic old town, culminating in the iconic Plaza del Castillo, close to where the bull run, or encierro, takes place. Throughout its history, sustainability has been a core commitment, with the organisers embedding eco-friendly measures at every stage of the event.
The Minister of Culture, Sport, and Tourism of the Government of Navarre, Rebeca Esnaola, stated that: “It is an honour for the region of Navarre to host this event and be the Spanish venue for this major event in 2026 and beyond. We are a leading community in the organization of national, international, and world-class sporting events, in which triathlon has always been particularly well received. This year, we were able to enjoy the tenth edition of the European Middle Distance Triathlon, Aquabike, and Aquathlon Championships. Our environment offers the perfect setting for a wide range of sports. Athletes from different disciplines and teams from all over the world have competed on our streets and facilities, always supported by fans who live and breathe sport with great enthusiasm. We are an active community that embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and physical activity and is bidding to be the European Region of Sport in 2027, so hosting this event reaffirms our commitment to promoting sport in our community.”
Spanish Triathlon Federation president, José Hidalgo, highlighted: “We are pleased to announce that, once again, the T100 circuit will include one of its most important stops in Spain, as it has since its inception. This season, our chosen host city is Pamplona – an iconic destination and home to one of the most popular middle-distance triathlons in the country. Without a doubt, it will be a meeting point for the world’s elite, but also for the best national triathletes, as it coincides with the Spanish Championships. I believe we should be very proud that Spain continues to host this event and remains at the centre of major international triathlon competitions.”
World Triathlon President, Antonio F. Arimany, said: “We are delighted to see our partnership with PTO reach another milestone with the announcement of the T100 race in Pamplona. This collaboration continues to strengthen the World Triathlon circuit, bringing together the world’s top athletes for truly global, unforgettable events. Pamplona, with its rich cultural heritage and vibrant spirit, offers an extraordinary stage for triathlon. To see our athletes racing through the same iconic streets as the famous San Fermines, cheered on by passionate fans and set against the city’s spectacular medieval backdrop, is truly special. These images will travel the world, celebrating both the essence of Pamplona and the dynamic future of our sport.”
Pamplona is the third destination in Spain to host a T100 race after Ibiza in 2024 and Oropesa del Mar earlier this year following a relocation from Valencia. It joins the Gold Coast (21-22 March), Singapore (25-26 April), Vancouver (15-16 August) , Dubai (12-15 November) and Qatar as confirmed dates on the T100 Triathlon World Tour in 2026.
Last month, the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and World Triathlon announced a number of revisions to the 2026 T100 Triathlon World Tour format, including an adapted competition schedule, removal of season-long contract commitments and increased event prize money.
