The fourth and final stage of the Saint Petersburg Governor’s Cup Indoor Triathlon took place on Sunday at the sports complexes on Krestovsky Island in Saint Petersburg, with more than 700 participants in total.

According to one of the event’s organizers, race director of the Ironman company V. Mozzhukhin, the event’s success was largely driven by its unique competition format.

“For the first time ever, a Triathlon event using virtual reality was held not only in Saint Petersburg or Russia, but anywhere in the World. We limited the number of participants because we had some doubts about how well this format would work. However, as the four stages progressed, participation grew steadily and ultimately reached a record level.”

V. Mozzhukhin noted that all available slots were filled within four days of the fourth stage of the Governor’s Cup. As the final stage of the series, the event also included children’s races, a live music program, and an awards ceremony for the winners.
