In an excellent power demonstration the Mexican Team (Javier Rosas, Esteban Rosas and Sergio Sarmiento) won the First Ibero American Fast Triathlon Championships.
Fast Triathlon is a spectacular multi-sport that includes three mini-triathlons that are completed one after the other with a 15 minute break between them. The competition is in teams of three athletes that earn points depending of the individual place of each member in every race.
The distances of each mini-triathlon are: 250 meters of swimming, 4 kilometers of cycling and 1,500 meters of running. So the competition can take place in short courses in which the in-site and television audience can feel the explosion of the race –this time the event had a live broadcast by Cadena Globo for millions of people–.
Six countries participate in this First Ibero American Fast Triathlon Championships: Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Portugal and Venezuela. And since the first triathlon Mexico lead after winning the race with Javier Rosas (MEX) and Sergio Sarmiento (MEX). Antonio Da Silva (BRA) was third.
In the second triathlon one more time Javier Rosas (MEX) was the best of the 18 athletes, leaving the second place to Alberto Parreño (ESP) and the third place to Velmar Bianco (ARG). Finally in a very intelligent race of the Mexicans, the third triathlon was won by Virgilio De Castillo (BRA), but Javier Rosas (MEX) arrived in second place and Sergio Sarmiento (MEX) in third place to give their country the gold medal of the Ibero American Fast Triathlon Championships. The silver medal was for Argentina and the bronce medal for Brazil.
