2025 Member Services & Development Updates
(Presented by Zita Csovelyak, Head of Member Services & Development)
Members were updated on World Triathlon’s Development framework for 2025, including the revised Development Funding Model for the Continental Confederations, the Four-Year Continental Development Strategy with KPIs for the LA2028 Olympic Cycle, and a more sustainable approach to Member development — all aimed at supporting Members to reach their full potential.
Members were reminded to review their Continental Agreements and were briefed on the IOC Olympic Solidarity (2025–2028) programs. These include technical courses for coaches and officials, athlete and coach scholarships, and initiatives to strengthen National Sport Systems.
Looking ahead, the presentation introduced priorities from the New TRI Strategic Plan (2026–2029), which will guide development efforts toward key goals, including preparations for the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026.

About the Survey
Full 2024 Report (PDF)
The survey, conducted since 2017 and based on more than 460,000 data points, now provides valuable insight into sport development across all five continents. It is vital to World Triathlon to develop a better understanding of its Members, track global progress, and allocate resources effectively.
Through consistent, transparent methodology, the data has revealed emerging trends and provided annual reporting to National Federations. The data has also been instrumental in establishing a National Federation Development Pathway to guide future growth.
Female Coaches in Triathlon – Status Study & Development Plan 2025
(Presented by Emma Carney, Multiple World Champion, World Triathlon Hall of Fame, World Triathlon Development & Education Contractor)
The newly released Female Coaches in Triathlon – Status Study and Development Plan (2025) provides both quantitative and qualitative analysis to better understand women’s experiences in coaching. Data on education, participation, and event involvement is complemented by insights into gender-based experiences and barriers faced by female coaches.
The study outlines recurring challenges, including gender bias, lack of mentorship, and unequal access to opportunities.
The project culminates in a female coach profile and strategic recommendations designed to support more inclusive pathways for women in coaching roles across the sport.
