Ilja Höfler took first place at the 2009 wintertriathlon national championship taking place in Mals, southern Tyrol, in front of last year’s champion Michael Schädler (2nd place) and his brother Philip Schädler (3rd place). Höfler, currently a passionate climber and a long distance cyclist, decided to take part again in wintertriathlon after eight years of pausing.
