European Triathletes awarded London 2012 Olympic scholarships

The European Triathlon Union would like to congratulate a number of our triathletes who have been awarded an Olympic Scholarship for upcoming Olympic games in London next summer.

Each of the athletes have been identified by their federations as potential stars of triathlon and the scholarship will allow them to prepare for London 2012 in the best possible way.

The IOC’s Olympic Solidarity World Programme Fund’s aim is to organise assistance for all the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), particularly those with the greatest needs, so that they can develop their own structures to favour the expansion of sport in their country.

The European athletes nominated are; Richard Varga (Slovenia), Helle Frederiksen (Denmark), Stojan Popovski (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), Aileen Morrison (Ireland), Yuliya Yelistratova (Ukraine), Hervé Banti (Monaco), Vendula Frintova (Czech Republic) and Elizabeth May (Luxembourg).

Full details of the ITU statement can be found here.
