A packed weekend of racing heads to Caorle, Italy, as the first Junior Mixed Relay of the season takes centre stage alongside a full schedule of Europe Triathlon Cup action.
Racing gets underway on Friday afternoon with the Junior Men’s semi-finals at 14:30, followed by the Junior Women’s semi-finals at 17:30.
Those results will set the stage for an exciting Saturday, beginning with the Junior Women’s final at 10:00, followed by the Junior Men’s final at 11:00.
The Elite Women then take to the course in a sprint-distance race, starting at 13:30. Poland’s Roksana Slupek leads the field wearing bib number one. After missing last year’s Europe Triathlon Cup, Caorle will also showcase strong home representation, with eight Italian athletes on the start line.
In 2024, Switzerland’s Alissa König claimed victory in the Elite Women’s race, ahead of Germany’s Franka Rust, with the Netherlands’ Robin Dreijling taking bronze.
With none of last year’s medallists racing this weekend, the door is open for a new winner to emerge.
The Elite Men’s race sees France’s Valentin Morlec and Paul Georgenthum wearing bibs one and two. Both arrive in form after competing in the recent event in Torremolinos, where Georgenthum secured a top-10 finish.
Close behind him there was Italy’s Samuele Angelini, who finished eighth at the same race and leads a strong contingent of 12 Italian athletes competing on home soil.
Last year’s winner, Alessio Crociani, will not be racing in Caorle this time around, guaranteeing a new champion in the men’s field as well.
The weekend concludes with the Junior Mixed Relay at 17:30 on Saturday. Nine countries will be represented, with Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Israel, and Slovenia each fielding two teams. Italy claimed victory in last year’s relay in a thrilling finish, spurred on by a passionate home crowd as they edged out Hungary.
All races will be broadcast live with Italian commentary.
