The Asian Triathlon Confederation 22th congress held at Light House Hotel Meeting Room, Subic Bay Freeport, Philippines on 26th April 2013 at 2:00 PM
Mr. Yu Kyung-Sun of ASTC President chaired the congress with Mr. Tomas Carrasco Jr. (Sr. VP), Mr. Masao Nakayama (VP), Datuk Balwant Singh Kler (Sec. Gen.) and Mr. David Hoong (Treasurer).
After a delicious launch the congress started Philippines local time at 2pm at Light House Hotel Meeting Room, Subic Bay Freeport. There were present EB members: Dr. Liou Yu-Feng, Ms. Ruth Hunt, Mr. Vijitr Sittinawin, Mr. Yuriy Solovyev, Mr. Wang Xuanqing, Mr. M. Sharipdjan , Mr. Omar Bakar and Ms. Jin Wen. President asked the Sec. Gen. for the roll call, who informed the delegates out of 27, 21 members were present. Indonesia, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan (could not entered as visa problem returned back from Manila airport), Oman and Syria were absent. There are two associate members and that is Lebanon and Kuwait only arriving on the 27th.
President Speech: Mr. Yu welcomed the entire delegates to the Congress and thanked everyone for their support to him last year when he stood for ITU President at Auckland Congress. On behalf of the ASTC he recorded his deepest appreciation to the Mr. Tomas Carrasco, President TRAP and his staff, local Organizing Committee, for their dedication in preparing the 21st Asian Triathlon Championships. He then asked the Secretary General to carry on with the agenda.
Accepting New Members: President asked Secretary General if there were any new members and was informed that Lebanon and Kuwait had fulfilled all the requirements and were our associate members. President then asked the congress to accept the memberships of Lebanon Triathlon Federation and all delegates were in agreement of accepting Lebanon. Lebanon Triathlon Federation becomes the 28th ASTC full member. The President then asked the congress to accept Kuwait Triathlon Committee and all delegates were in agreement to accept KTC. Kuwait Triathlon becomes the 29th of ASTC full member.
Secretary General of ASTC Datuk Balwant Singh Kler presented his General Report. After it Treasurer of ASTC Mr. David Hoong placed his annual report.
ITU Sport Director Mr. Gergely Markus presented how ITU is helping ASTC.
Mr. Ki ITU Sport Development Officer presented how the selection is done by ITU etc. Mr. Ki has noted that with the huge number of participating juniors and YOG aspirants, this ATC will be biggest to date for our young athletes close to 100 in number especially increase in 13–16 years old which is a good sign for ASTC.
Technical Committee Chairman Mr. Omar Bakar hoped that all members should cooperate with him by giving him the dates of their events like Asian Cup and ITU events by end of November this year as he has to give ASTC calendar to ITU by the first week of December.
Mr. Philip Chairman of the Para Triathlon Committee briefed the congress delegates on the committee term of reference and also the logo, which was accepted and he was told to fine tune the logo and keeping in mind the protocol of ASTC when drawing the logo.
Secretary General informed that he received resolution from Chinese Taipei. To allow only 2 athletes per country for elites, U23 and juniors for all ATC events. The resolution was discussed at the EB meeting and he asked Dr. Liou to brief the congress delegates. Dr. Liou briefed his resolution to the delegates. It was then proposed by Mr. Red Dumuk that the EB should study it and then bring it up in the next congress. It was accepted that EB members to discuss it and then bring it up in the next congress.
The meeting ended at 3.52 P.M. with a vote of thanks to the chair.
