African Champs a huge success!
Thanks to every federations for sending teams and for your participation in all the activities of the weekend.
Thanks also to the ITU development for the resources to present the youth coaching course. By all reports the kids are working hard and the coaches are learning even more. Thanks to all for your involvement!
A special word of thanks to Race Directors Rick Fulton and Shaun Shelton: they have taken event organizing in Africa to a new level – from the in house TV production team to the podium awards for the Elite athletes!
Thanks to the team of the Zimbabwe Triathlon Association (they were the LOC) for the detail to athlete’s services, protocol and the great awards evening. I’ve never seen so many flowers at a triathlon event – you’ve created a special occasion for the athletes!
We will soon follow up with the implementation of new policies and a vision for the African Cups and Championships events for 2007 and 2008. In the mean time we look forward to the ATU Duathlon Championships that will take place on 6 May in Worcester near Cape Town and first ever ITU World Cup in Richards Bay on 11 June 2006.
All the best – Liesbeth Stoltz, President African Triathlon Union
