Abrahm Louw grew up in the copper mining town of Tsumeb, which is the capital of the Oshikoto Region of Northern Namibia. He started his sporting career as a swimmer at the age of 10, and despite the lack of facilities in his home town, he went on to earn his Namibian national colours as a swimmer at the age of 14. Training alone and having no coach in Tsumeb soon became dull for Abrahm, so on the advice of his mother, he started to take part in mini triathlons and soon became hooked on the sport. His parents soon realized his potential and relocated Abrahm to Potchefstroom, South Africa when he turned 15 years old so he could get professional guidance in his sport. In the same year Abrahm took part in the All African Triathlon Championships in Mauritius and dominated the U15 category. Winning the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Qualifier for Africa in November of 2009 was a highlight in Abrahm’s short career as a triathlete.  He is the only Namibian to qualify for the YOG and is enjoying incredible support from the Namibian Olympic Committee and Olympic solidarity.

Abrahm’s trains under the guidance of ITU Sport Development director and is an ITU Scholarship recipient.
