The fourth edition of the 2025 World Triathlon Members Virtual Open Hours took place on Tuesday, 16 and Wednesday, 17 September, bringing together members from around the world for updates, insights, and discussions on the future of the sport.

Updates from the President

World Triathlon President, Antonio F. Arimany, opened the session with reflections on the busy 2025 season and outlined key initiatives shaping the Federation’s future. Among the highlights was the preparation for the XXXVIII World Triathlon Congress, scheduled for 18 October in Wollongong, Australia.

The session also welcomed newly elected National Federation Presidents to the World Triathlon community:

  • Mr Abdul Malik Jani, President, UAE Triathlon Federation
  • Ms Zola Sangga, President, PNG Triathlon Association
  • Mr Eddy Baptiste Bazile, President, Union de Haitienne Triathlon
  • Mr Haithem Boubaker, President, Tunisian Triathlon Federation

Introduction of the New Secretary General

Members were introduced to Jon Wyatt, OLY, who began his role as World Triathlon Secretary General in August at the Lausanne Headquarters. A two-time Olympian in field hockey and new to the sport of triathlon, Jon shared his personal connection to SwimBikeRun, which began when his family participated in the 2024 Lausanne Triathlon.

In his first month, Jon has attended races, engaged with the global triathlon community, and brought a new energy and strong sense of collaboration to the Federation.

Deloitte Report Presentation

The second half of the session featured Bernard Sinnaeve, who presented Deloitte’s comprehensive study on the challenges within triathlon’s current operational model. The report provides valuable insights as the sport continues to evolve and prepare for the future.
